Perth Basin
The Perth Basin exemplifies ARC’s business strategy of high equities, control of or access to infrastructure, operatorship and early commercialisation of discoveries.
ARC has a dominant position in the Perth Basin, with equity in all the onshore and offshore producing fields.
The Perth Basin is an oil and gas prone area which, until recently, had only been sporadically explored since the discovery of the Dongara oil and gas field in the late 1960s.
Exploration by ARC in the Basin since 2001 has resulted in the discovery of significant oil and gas reserves, both onshore and offshore. The area remains under-explored, which provides confidence that additional reserves of oil and gas will continue to be found by ARC’s aggressive exploration drilling and 3D seismic programs.
ARC has interests in all of the producing fields in the Basin, including the very significant infrastructure supporting those fields. This offers a significant economic advantage for the company as it allows for early and low cost commercialisation of oil and gas found in the area.
